To study variation of time period of a simple pendulum by changing its length and taking bobs of different masses independently and interpret the result.
METER SCALE The experiment on simple pendulum involves using different masses of bobs to check the variation of time period with mass. The time period remains constant regardless of the bob's mass, confirming the principle of isochronism. The experiment is conducted by measuring the time taken for 20 oscillations of a simple pendulum with time taken for 20 oscillations of a simple pendulum with fixed length, and then varying the mass of the bob to observe the effect on the time period. The results are plotted on a graph, showing that the time period is independent of the mass of the bob. This experiment is a practical demonstration of the principles of Physics and is often included in Physics and educational settings.
