APPARATUS SUPPLIED WITH EXPERIMENT

  1. SONOMETER BRASS FITTING
  2. SLOTTED WEIGHTS (5*500GMS)
  3. SET OF TUNING FORKS OF DIFFERENT FREQUENCY
  4. RUBBER HAMMER                                                                                                                The principle of this experiment relies on transverse stationary waves and resonance in a stretched string. When a tuning fork of known frequency (f) vibrates and touches the sonometer, it forces the wire to vibrate. When the natural frequency of the vibrating segment of length (l) matches the frequency of the tuning fork, resonance occurs, causing the paper rider on the wire to fly off due to maximum vibration amplitude.
