This Apparatus has been designed to calculate the value of shunt connected in parallel of galvanometer to convert it into ammeter.
This Instrument comprises of:
- D C Regulated power supply of 0-5V DC.
- A good quality galvanometer and milliammeter is mounted on front panel.
- Three type of shunt resistances for 150mA,100mA,50mA range are provided on the front panel.
- There is a in built variable load resistance of 25Ω/3 Watt is also provided on the front panel.
- In this instrument the small resistance which is connected parallel to galvanometer to save this instrument from damage due to excess current passing through in its absence is called shunt.
- When shunt is connected in parallel to the galvanometer then the combination is called an ammeter because it is able to measure large current.
