Description
SPECIFICATION: A dry-wet thermometer, also known as a psychrometer, is an instrument used to measure relative humidity in the air. It consists of two thermometers. This device is commonly used in meteorology, HVAC systems, and other industries where controlling humidity is important.
Dry Thermometer: This thermometer measures the air temperature directly, just like any standard thermometer.
Wet Thermometer: This thermometer has its bulb wrapped in a wick or cloth that is soaked in water. The evaporation of water from the wick causes the temperature reading on the wet thermometer to be lower than the dry thermometer. The rate of evaporation depends on the humidity of the air; the drier the air, the faster the evaporation, and the greater the temperature difference between the two thermometers. The difference in temperature between the dry and wet thermometers can be used to calculate the relative humidity using a psychrometric chart or a formula. The greater the difference, the lower the humidity, and vice versa.
