Conversion of Galvanometer into Ammeter

• In this instrument the small resistance which is connected parallel to galvanometer to save this instrument from damage due to excess current passing through in its absence is called shunt.
• When shunt is connected in parallel to the galvanometer then the combination is called an ammeter because it is able to measure large current.
